This required a new way of communicating their products, brand strategy, messaging, and visual identity. I co-led the search for a strategy agency to lead the company's rebrand. After an extensive search we partnered with the talented folx at Noise13, and our development partner was RedBridge for a custom CMS and web presence.
The following is a small sample of the work we created together, with a focus on the designs I executed myself.
MARKETING
Challenge. Sysdig produced a lot of thought leadership pieces that were used to feed their sales funnel and drive awareness. They needed a simple system that could be scaled easily by both internal and external designers.
Solution. I created a system that took advantage of the new brand identity patterns, typography, color palette, and logo created for the rebrand. By employing a fixed/flexible strategy we could craft collateral that was both flexible and consistent. That would be both identifiable by it’s purpose (white paper, eBook, case study, etc) but would always feel fresh.
Role: System and graphic design
SALES
Challenge. Communicate the technical know-how of a security company in an engaging and meaningful way. The open-source audience can be tough and the community is tight. They’re apt to call out fluff when they feel it.
Solution. We commission an illustration system that is based on technical concepts yet is still fun and engaging. I used this system, combined with messaging and content that is useful and based on thought leadership and generosity.
Role: Visual design
WORK PLACE EXPERIENCE
BRAND EXPERIENCE
Challenge: Once the new brand was launched, we needed to find ways to represent it for event experiences.
Solution: We knew that leveraging Sysdig employee excitement would be a part of our strategy, so we set about equipping them with what they needed. I set the bar high. If we were going to create physical swag let’s be proud of it. The bold, tone-on-tone look stood out in crowded event floors.
The other part of this project had to do with fulfillment. We set up a self-service web portal so people could order cards, shirts, and other swag themselves. This saved time and energy and encouraged particpation.
SALES + MARKETING
Challenge: Create a CMS that could be built and edited by a cross-functional group of collaborators. Represent both the new brand and product structure on their relaunched website.
Solution: We chose a WordPress based platform, both for it’s depth and flexibility as well as it’s relative familiarity. At Sysdig I’m responsible for the day-to-day operations of their website. This includes running the development agency relationship, setting project priorities and expectations, designing new pages, and enlisting contract design assistance.
Once the main site is built, I design new pages as needed based on existing user flows and page templates, design new page elements, create site assets such as banners, and provide thinking around UX. I’m involved in all decisions with the site, including 3rd party integrations, video embeds, A/B testing, and being responsive to KPIs based on analytics.
